Review: DC Collectibles The Flash TV Series Action Figure

Arriving last week to comic shops and specialty stores is the latest in DC Collectibles action figures based on DC TV characters appearing in show on The CW. Today we take a look at The Flash, based on the hit series. When it was announced that Barry Allen would be appearing in an episode of second season of Arrow, fans went crazy with excitement. It was then revealed that they would be spinning off The Flash from the action packed Arrow series.
Fast forward to the 2014 fall TV season and the freshmen series debuted to great fan reaction. Warner Bros. had another hit series on its hands. Now thanks to DC Collectibles we have an action figure based on the appearance of Barry Allen, aka The Flash, from the series.
The Flash TV Series Action Figure stands in at 6.75” tall and features many points of articulation. Many of which allow for some fantastic posing. Unfortunately though, some of the sculpt hinders the range of motion on his arms, stopping the arm from bending any further than a little less than 90 degrees. Obviously better than many other figure though and certainly not something I think should deter you from picking this figure up, just be aware of it is all.
The legs and ankles feature a great amount of range of motion that give plenty of options to posing The Flash. The ankles have a hinge and ball joint to them, which I absolutely love seeing on action figures these days. I wish more of them had this.
As for the sculpt, Gentle Giant Studios did a fantastic job of capturing actor Grant Gustin’s look as The Flash. I can actually tell it is him at this scale. The rest of the suit looks great too, with the texture and piping throughout the suit. Even the raised Flash symbol looks great on the chest. Overall an incredible job on the sculpt for this figure.
The figure comes with two extra sets of hands to give you a variety displaying options. On the figure are clenched fists, the first extra set is fully opened and flat hands and the second set is a pair of slightly closed grasping hands. For a figure that doesn’t have any accessories that can be given to it, these make for some great additions.
As you can see in my pics I used some regular DC Collectibles New 52 Flash villains to pose him with as there are no other figures in the line yet. But this will be changing as Captain Cold will be arriving later this year. In the meantime I made the best of it.
